Automotive Service Councils of California Treasurer John Villa Honored During California Small Business Day
SACRAMENTO – The Automotive Service Councils of California is proud to announce that Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham (R-35) has named ASCCA Treasurer John Villa, of Villa Automotive, the 35th Assembly District’s Small Business of the Year.
Every year, the California Small Business Association hosts California Small Business Day, an event that brings 120 small businesses from across the state who have been honored by their state legislator to Sacramento. Each honoree is recognized on the floor of the State Assembly or State Senate and later attends a luncheon with the legislator who selected them.
“I was proud to recognize Villa Automotive & Autobody today in Sacramento as the Small Business of the Year for Assembly District 35. Villa Automotive embodies the small business culture of the Central Coast,” said Assemblyman Cunningham in a Facebook post. “Their business is consistently recognized as one the best on the Central Coast and owners John and Diane Villa are pillars of the community… John is a member of the Lions Club, the Elks Club, has been a football coach for San Luis Obispo High School and Nipomo High School, and a Cuesta College Advisory Board member. Thank you, John and Diane, for giving so much back to our community.”
A member of ASCCA for 30 years, Villa Automotive is a California Certified Green statin that has been serving the San Luis Obispo Community since 1912. Since John took over the family business in 1988, it has been named the best auto repair by New Times Best of SLO County for 19 years and by Mustang Daily, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s student newspaper, for 12 years.
“As a proud board member of both the California Small Business Association and ASCCA, I value the work they do to protect small business owners and advocate on our behalf in the State Capitol,” said John Villa. “But our advocacy wouldn’t be successful without legislators like Assemblyman Cunningham who understand the challenges we face and champion small businesses every day in Sacramento. I am proud to call him a friend, and it is a tremendous honor to be chosen as his 2018 Small Business of the Year.”
